London Jam Cams Privacy Policy
How London Jam Cams uses information, device features and third-party services.
Effective date: 26 August 2026
This policy is written conservatively from the application's current implementation. It should be reviewed whenever the app's services or permissions change.
Location
Location access is optional and is only requested when you actively choose to find traffic cameras near you. The current implementation requests location when the crosshair control is tapped and uses it to rank nearby cameras. It does not imply continuous location tracking.
Traffic camera data
Camera positions, availability, images and video clips come from the public Transport for London JamCam endpoint. Requests may expose ordinary technical network information to TfL and the services involved in delivering the request. Transport for London does not endorse this app.
Search
Area, postcode, town, station and road searches use OpenStreetMap Nominatim, limited to Great Britain with London used as a search hint. Search text and normal technical request information may therefore be processed by that service.
Favourites and preferences
Saved camera choices, advertising counters and related preferences are stored locally on the device so the app can restore them and apply its frequency controls.
Advertising and consent
The app uses Google AdMob. Adaptive banners may appear on populated Nearby and Saved screens. The map, camera viewer, loading, error and empty screens are designed to remain ad-free. Occasional interstitial ads may appear after camera viewing, subject to in-app frequency caps.
Non-personalised ads are requested by default in the current implementation. Google's consent flow runs before the ads service initialises where required, and a privacy choices control may be available when required by the consent service. Google may process device, advertising, consent and interaction information under its own policies.
Device services
The app may use device location services only for the optional nearby-camera action. Network access is used to retrieve TfL camera data, OpenStreetMap Nominatim results and advertising content.
Your choices
You can choose whether to grant optional device permissions, adjust device-level permissions later and stop using the app. Where an app stores preferences locally, removing the app may remove that local data.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an Apped service, please contact us.
Data retention
Information is kept only for as long as needed for the purpose described, to operate and protect the service, or to meet legal obligations. Retention by third-party services is governed by their own policies.
